Atlanta shooting suspect Robert Aaron Long may have continued to Florida: mayor

The sex-crazed Georgia man who allegedly massacred eight people in a series of Atlanta-area spa shootings may have been headed to Florida to continue the carnage, Atlanta’s mayor said Wednesday.

Robert Aaron Long, 21, was believed to be driving to the Sunshine State when he was nabbed Tuesday in Crisp County.

“The suspect was on his way to Florida, perhaps to carry out additional shootings,” Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms said at a press conference.

Authorities said that Long may suffer from a “sex addiction” and potentially was heading to Florida in a plot to attack “some type of porn industry.”

Authorities in Cherokee County said Long was charged with four counts of murder and one count of assault in the shooting at a massage parlor.

“He apparently has an issue, what he considers a sex addiction, and sees these locations as something that allows him to go to these places, and it’s a temptation for him that he wanted to eliminate,” Cherokee County Sheriff’s spokesman Capt. Jay Baker told reporters.

Police said Wednesday they’re still investigating whether the shootings — which killed six Asian women — were a hate crime.
