With Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s announcement that New York arenas are allowed to welcome fans at 10 percent capacity at the end of this month, Madison Square Garden released more-detailed guidelines for health and safety protocols on Tuesday.
Season ticket-holders for the Rangers will be allowed to begin purchasing tickets for “socially distanced seating pods” to the Feb. 26 matchup vs. the Bruins, the Feb. 28 matchup vs. the Bruins and the March 2 game against the Sabres. Knicks season ticket-holders can purchase tickets for the Feb. 23 matchup vs. the Warriors, the Feb. 25 game against the Kings and the Feb. 27 matchup vs. the Pacers.
“While we currently have limited capacity, we’re focused on creating the safest and most enjoyable environment, with strict operating protocols developed with state and health officials,” Andrew Lustgarten, president and CEO of MSG Sports and president of MSG Entertainment, said in a statement.
Each MSG guest, including those who are vaccinated, must present confirmation from a healthcare provider of a negative PCR COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of the day of the game. Everyone will be required to pass a health survey, which will be available on the MSG Venue App 12 hours before every game, prior to arriving at the arena.
Fans will also receive a temperature check upon arrival that must register below 100.4 degrees.
Doors will open 90 minutes prior to a game’s start time and all tickets will be digital. MSG plans to use multiple entrances to help with flow, with specific entrances assigned based on their seating location.
All guests will be required to wear a face covering while in the Garden, except while actively eating or drinking in their assigned seats. Additionally, all in-venue purchases (food, beverage, merchandise) will be “100 percent cashless via credit card purchased and mobile payment.”
Regarding refunds, MSG says fans will get their money back in wake of a positive COVID-19 test within the 72-hour window or if they fail temperature checks upon arrival.
“We understand that as we begin to find our way back, there will be unique and challenging circumstances,” the FAQ section of MSG’s website reads. “Refunds will be provided to guests who have a positive PCR COVID-19 test or who do not pass their temperature check on the day of the event. In addition, we ask guests who are symptomatic or not feeling well to stay home, in which case tickets would also be refunded.”
