The latest build of AIMP for macOS, version 5.40.2675, fixes a long-running grouping-tree issue where Alt+Click would not behave as expected in the music library. The update also addresses a sampling-frequency bug that left buffers unflushed and resolves an MP4 parser error in the tag editor.

Fine-tune buffering and sample rates

AIMP hands back control to the listener who cares about signal path. Changing the sampling frequency now flushes the buffer immediately, so you hear the new rate without a trailing echo of the old one. The waveform calculation engine also received a speed improvement in this release, making large-library analysis noticeably quicker.

Tag deep cuts without parser noise

The tag editor no longer trips over unnamed MP4 fields — a fix that matters when you are cleaning up metadata from obscure rips or live recordings. AIMP supports a wide set of interface languages, including Finnish, German, and Spanish, which helps when tagging files sourced from international collections.

Run a Windows-grade engine on Apple Silicon

Packaged with Wineskin, the macOS build runs natively on Apple Silicon. That means the same Monkey's Audio 11.08 codec and Vorbis handling the Windows build uses are available here, without emulation overhead. A recent libVorbis conflict with third-party plugins was also resolved, keeping the decoder chain clean for high-bitrate playback.

The disk image still ships a Fix script for scary launch errors

Dragging the app into Applications and launching it straight away works most of the time. When it does not, the error message that appears can look worse than it is. The disk image includes a Fix script specifically for that scenario — skipping it and trying to troubleshoot Wine manually wastes time. Run the Fix file once, then launch AIMP again.

Another common stumble involves the interface size. On a Retina display, the default window can feel cramped, and new users sometimes dig through AIMP's own preferences looking for a scaling slider that is not there. The scaling is handled at the Wine level. Open the app package contents, navigate to the Contents folder, launch KegworksConfig, then open the Config Utility from the Tools menu. Under the Graphics tab, set the screen resolution to a value between 122 and 144. Apply the change and restart the app. Skipping this step and squinting at tiny buttons for weeks is a rite of passage nobody needs.

Playlist management trips people up, too. Dragging a folder onto AIMP expecting it to inherit a Windows-style file-tree view leads to a flat list. The music library grouping tree is the correct tool for that, and as of version 5.40.2675, Alt+Click behaves properly inside it — something that previously sent people clicking around in confusion.

Large hi-res libraries feel snappier after the codec and tag updates

Users with large, locally stored collections of high-resolution audio see the biggest practical gains. The updated Monkey's Audio 11.08 codec and the faster waveform calculation make library browsing feel more responsive, and the tag editor's MP4 parser fix removes friction for anyone who cleans up metadata batch by batch.

Listeners who switch between interface languages also benefit. AIMP ships with more than twenty localizations — Arabic, Belarusian, Korean, and Turkish among them — and the 5.40.2675 release updated several of them. That breadth is rare in a Wineskin-packaged player, and it matters when multiple people in a household or studio share the same machine.

Mac users who came from the Windows version of AIMP and miss its exact audio pipeline get the closest match available without leaving macOS. The libVorbis fix in this build means third-party plugins no longer conflict with the built-in decoder, so the signal path stays predictable for those who layer DSP or output plugins. AIMP for Mac is not a rewritten-from-scratch port; it is the same engine, wrapped to run on Apple Silicon, which is exactly what that group wants.

No more sample-rate ghost tails when you jump between tracks

The sampling-frequency buffering fix has a practical effect during long sessions. Before 5.40.2675, switching between a 44.1 kHz file and a 96 kHz file could carry a split-second tail of the old rate into the new track. That is gone now, so A/B comparisons between masters are cleaner and the transition between tracks feels tighter.

The playlist manager no longer falsely flags content as modified after you simply change the playing track in active storage. That eliminates the phantom "save changes?" prompts that used to appear when you had done nothing but click a different song. It is a small quality-of-life change that adds up across a day of queue building.

Incoming crash reports from earlier builds have been addressed, and the Skin Engine mouse-wheel bug that affected the visualization window is also resolved. For anyone running AIMP on a Mac with an external mouse, scrolling over visualizations now works as expected instead of jumping or freezing. These are not headline features, but they are the kind of fixes that move AIMP macOS from "it mostly works" to "it stays out of the way."
