BricsCAD 24.2.04-05-1 Mac
BricsCAD for macOS runs on Intel-based Macs starting with macOS 10.15 Catalina and remains compatible through Sonoma. The current build, version 24.2.04-05-1, is a 64-bit x86 application that ships with English and Russian interface languages.
Drafting a simple floor plan
One realistic task is drawing a small residential floor plan. You start with a 2D Drafting workspace and set up a metric or imperial grid. The application reads AutoCAD custom menus, toolbars, and scripts, so a designer moving from that environment can load existing CUI files and retain familiar snaps and object tracking. After laying down exterior walls with the polyline tool and offsetting for interior partitions, you insert a door block from a library and mirror it across a hallway. Dimension strings attach to wall intersections with one click, and the layout prints to PDF or paper space at a chosen scale.
Turning the plan into a 3D model
From the same file you can switch to a 3D Modeling workspace. Solid tools extrude the wall outlines upward by a set floor-to-ceiling height. Boolean subtracts carve out window and door openings from the mass. The model remains a single .dwg file, so a change to the 2D footprint updates the 3D geometry. The macOS edition shares this file format with the Windows and Linux versions, making cross-platform project handoff straightforward.
